Your children's well-being is our absolute priority
Safety is not a feature at Nawrass — it is the foundation upon which every programme is built. From staff recruitment to emergency evacuation drills, every detail is designed to give corporate partners and parents complete confidence that children are protected, supervised, and cared for at all times.
All animators hold nationally recognised youth leadership diplomas and complete a minimum of 40 hours of pre-season training covering pedagogy, group management, and conflict resolution before being assigned to any programme.
Every staff member on site is certified in first aid and CPR, with refresher courses completed annually. Specialist activity leaders hold additional certifications relevant to their disciplines, such as lifeguard or mountain rescue qualifications.
All personnel undergo comprehensive background checks, including criminal record verification and professional reference reviews. No individual is permitted to work with children until clearance is confirmed and documented in our compliance records.
We enforce a strict maximum of one qualified animator for every eight children during all standard activities. This ratio ensures that every child receives individual attention and that supervisors can respond immediately to any situation.
Children are separated into age-appropriate groups to ensure activities match their developmental stage. Younger participants (9-12) receive closer supervision, while older teens (15-18) are given structured independence within clearly defined safety boundaries.
Sleeping quarters are separated by gender with dedicated night supervisors assigned to each dormitory section. Staff members of the same gender are always present in each accommodation area, and access is monitored throughout the night.
Every camp includes a fully equipped first-aid station staffed by a qualified nurse or paramedic during all operating hours. The station carries essential supplies for treating minor injuries, managing allergic reactions, and stabilising patients before hospital transfer if needed.
All Nawrass camp sites are located within 30 minutes of a fully equipped hospital. We maintain pre-established relationships with local medical facilities and have transport protocols in place so that any child requiring hospital care is transferred without delay.
Our emergency response plan is reviewed and rehearsed before every session. Staff know exactly how to activate the emergency chain — from first response and parent notification to hospital liaison and post-incident reporting. Drills are conducted regularly so procedures remain second nature.
Every activity undergoes a formal risk assessment before it enters the programme schedule. Hazards are identified, mitigation measures documented, and activities are only approved when residual risk falls within acceptable thresholds defined by our safety committee.
All sporting and adventure equipment meets European safety standards and is inspected before each use. Helmets, harnesses, life jackets, and protective gear are mandatory for relevant activities. Equipment is replaced on a strict maintenance schedule, never beyond its certified service life.
Staff monitor weather conditions continuously and have clear guidelines for modifying or cancelling outdoor activities during adverse weather. Heat protocols, storm procedures, and UV-protection measures are integrated into the daily planning process to protect campers at all times.
Camp perimeters are secured and access is restricted to authorised personnel only. Visitor logs are maintained at all entry points, and no child may leave the site without written parental consent and staff escort. Identification checks are standard for all arrivals and departures.
Dedicated night supervisors patrol accommodation areas from lights-out until morning. At least two staff members remain awake and on duty at all times during the night to respond to any situation, whether a homesick child or a medical concern.
Each site has documented evacuation procedures displayed in common areas and dormitories. Evacuation drills are conducted during the first 24 hours of every session so that both staff and campers know assembly points, exit routes, and emergency contact procedures.
Parents receive daily photo and video updates through our secure digital platform. These updates highlight the day's activities, meals, and key moments, giving families peace of mind and a window into their child's experience without disrupting the camp routine.
In the event of an emergency, parents are contacted immediately by the camp director using the primary phone number provided during registration. Our communication protocol ensures that families are informed within 30 minutes of any significant health or safety event.
A dedicated parent hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout every camp session. Whether parents have a question about their child's well-being or need to relay important information, our support team ensures prompt and reassuring responses.
Every staff member signs a comprehensive code of conduct that defines acceptable behaviour, professional boundaries, and zero-tolerance policies regarding any form of abuse, neglect, or discrimination. This code is reviewed with all personnel before each season begins.
We maintain clear, confidential reporting channels for any child protection concern. Staff are trained to identify warning signs, and any allegation or concern is escalated immediately to the designated safeguarding officer. All incidents are documented and, where required, reported to the relevant authorities.
