Yachting & Sailing Camp

Morocco Ages 12–18 Lodges Full Board EN / FR / AR
Summer

Set sail on the Atlantic aboard professionally crewed yachts in a programme designed for aspiring sailors aged 12 to 18. Based from the historic harbour of Asilah, this camp combines the thrill of open-water sailing with structured maritime education, progressive skill-building, and the discipline that comes from learning to work as a crew. Whether your child has never set foot on a boat or already knows port from starboard, our certified instructors tailor every session to the individual’s experience level.

Safety is the cornerstone of our sailing programme. Every on-water session is supervised by certified sailing instructors and a dedicated safety boat, maintaining a strict 1:6 instructor-to-sailor ratio. Campers are grouped by ability and progress through a structured curriculum that begins with shore-based theory — knot-tying, weather interpretation, right-of-way rules — before advancing to dinghy sailing, keelboat manoeuvres, and coastal navigation. Life jackets are mandatory, and all equipment meets European maritime safety standards.

For companies investing in their employees’ families, the Yachting Camp delivers a unique combination of technical skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. Participants leave with an introductory sailing certificate, the confidence that comes from mastering a complex craft, and friendships forged under sail on the open Atlantic. The programme runs exclusively during the summer session, when wind and sea conditions off Asilah are ideal for safe, exhilarating sailing.

Asilah’s historic harbour sits on the Atlantic coast at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, offering ideal sailing conditions: prevailing northerly winds of 12 to 18 knots, clear visibility, and manageable swell. The harbour dates to the 15th century Portuguese era and retains its stone breakwater and pilot station. The Nawrass sailing base operates alongside the working fishing fleet, giving participants authentic exposure to maritime tradition. Sea temperature stays between 20 and 22°C in summer.

Campers stay in a coastal residence three minutes on foot from the marina. Rooms sleep four, with individual beds, storage, air conditioning, and ensuite bathrooms. The residence includes a chart room for theory classes, a rinse station for wet gear, a drying area, and a shaded outdoor deck used for evening briefings and team meals. Security is maintained 24/7.

Days 1 to 3 are shore-based: knot-tying, wind theory, right-of-way rules, weather interpretation, and water-safety drills. Days 4 to 7 introduce dinghy sailing (Optimists for beginners, Lasers for experienced sailors) in the protected harbour. Days 8 to 10 move to keelboat sailing with coastal navigation exercises. Days 11 and 12 conclude with a supervised mini-regatta where teams race multi-leg courses judged on both speed and seamanship, followed by a certificate ceremony.

Full board designed for high-exertion days on the water. Breakfasts include eggs, wholegrain bread, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and juices. Lunches are hearty — tagine, pasta, grilled fish, salads. Dinners balance protein and carbs for recovery. On-water snacks: energy bars, nuts, electrolyte drinks. All meals emphasise hydration. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and specific allergy diets accommodated with advance notice.

The sailing team comprises three certified instructors (ISSA equivalent) with competitive racing experience, one dedicated safety-boat operator, and two youth coordinators. On-water ratio is strictly 1:6. A nurse is on-site throughout the camp; the nearest hospital is 15 minutes inland. Daily briefings cover weather, sea state, and session objectives. All sailing equipment meets European maritime safety standards.

Asilah marina is 45 kilometres from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport (TNG) — roughly 40 minutes by road. Nawrass organises group airport transfers on arrival day, included for groups of ten or more. ONCF LGV Al Boraq connects Casablanca to Tangier in 2h15, with an onward 45-minute transfer. From Rabat-Salé, count 2h30 by road; from Casablanca Mohammed V, approximately 3h30. Families receive a full travel pack two weeks before the camp.

Nawrass insurance (price on request) covers the full duration including all on-water activities. Coverage includes personal liability, accidental injury, emergency repatriation, and specific marine coverage for sailing incidents. Families may provide their own insurance with proof of equivalent coverage (including marine cover) at least ten days before the camp.

My daughter had never been on a sailboat before. After twelve days she was navigating under sail and explaining wind patterns to us at dinner. The instructors were exceptional — professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about teaching young sailors.
